RISC OS ShowsThe latest show news to land on the RISCWorld editorial desk... RISC OS South East 2007SASAUG (The Surrey and Sussex Acorn User Group) are once again organising a show at Guildford college. This year the show will be on Saturday the 20th of October. The doors open at 10:00 am and lose at 4:00pm, tickets are £5.00 on the door. Most of the stands have already been allocated with all of the major RISC OS companies confirmed as exhibitors. In addition the show will also have a theatre, which will open at 10:30 for the first presentation. At the moment the running order for talks had not been confirmed. As usual refreshments will also be available throughout the day. It's hoped that the show theatre can also be broadcast on TV monitors placed around the show so that everyone can see the latest developments. Guildford college is easy to reach by car and by public transport. The show website has full details that can easily be printed out to make getting there even easier. We will be in attendance and will be delighted to have a chat. More details can be found on the show website. The Dutch RISC OS show - cancelledThe Big Ben club, based in Holland, had hoped to organise a Dutch show for the 22nd of September this year. RISCWorld has been informed that this show will not be going ahead. The plan was to have a more modest show at a smaller venue, but that could still easily be reached by both train and car. Because a number of exhibitors (and visitors) would be coming from England the venue also needed to have suitable accommodation. Regretfully the show organisers have had to admit defeat as no suitable venue could be found at the required time, or with the required facilities. Leo Smiers, Chairman of the Big Ben Club, contacted RISCWorld with the sad news last week. It's not all bad news as the club will be discussing the planning of a 2008 show at the next club meeting. This discussion is scheduled for the October club meeting where it is hoped that plans can be put in place for next years show so that a venue can be located in plenty of time. The Big Ben club can be contacted via their website. The ARM Club Christmas ShowAfter the success of the last Arm Club Christmas show in Birmingham last year the club are going ahead, in conjunction with the Midlands User Group (MUG), with organising a show for this year. The RISC OS Christmas Show will be held on Saturday the 1st of December at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gayden, Warwickshire. The show will be open from 10:30 in the morning until 4:00 pm in the evening. Tickets are only available on the door and cost £4.00 for adults. Arm Club and MUG members can get in for only £3.00. Children under 12 will admitted free. In addition the Christmas Show tickets include a 10% discount on entry to the Heritage Motor Centre itself. This new venue is easy to reach from junction 12 of the M40 and is situated south of Birmingham. The Heritage Centre itself is a cracking day out, so you could easily treat yourself to a few RISC OS Christmas presents and then enjoy the rest of the day looking around one of the best automotive museums in Europe. Parking shouldn't be a problem as there are over 2000 parking spaces, plus there are regular buses for those coming on public transport. At the time of going to press a full list of exhibitors was not available, but the show website will be updated as more exhibitors book stands. You can expect to see all the usual RISC OS companies so the show could present an ideal opportunity for your relatives to buy you exactly what you do want. RISCWorld will be present on the APDL stand and we look forward to seeing you on the 1st of December. For booking information and other queries contact John Rickman. RISCWorld |
