Subscription Time 2008RISCWorld subscriptions renewals. Yes, it's that time of the year. The time when we go cap in hand to you, our readers, and demand money with menaces...sorry...ask nicely for you to renew your subscriptions so that we can live in the manner to which we have all become accustomed - abject poverty. In order to help keep us in this condition we have decided to keep our subscription rates for existing subscribers the same as last year. The cost for new subscribers will rise slightly. I know that this is a "backwards" way of doing things. Usually companies offer special discounts for new customers, whilst gradually creeping the prices up for existing customers. We don't like that approach and prefer to reward loyal RISCWorld subscribers by keeping their renewal costs down. So here are the subscription rates for RISCWorld Volume 9: Standard CD subscription £24.90 UK (£27.50 overseas)A years collection of six RISCWorld CDs for £24.90 in the UK and £27.50 overseas.
Complete CD subscription £26.90 UK (£29.50 overseas)A years collection of six RISCWorld CDs for £26.90 in the UK and £29.50 overseas, plus an updated copy of the "Just the Words" CD. The Complete RISCWorld CD
DVD subscription offer £34.90 UK (£37.50 overseas) - save £14.90!A years collection of six RISCWorld CDs for £34.90 in the UK and £37.50 overseas, plus the latest version of the RISCWorld DVD. The Complete RISCWorld DVD
Note that in order to use the RISCWorld DVD you will need a RiscPC or VirtualRiscPC with RISC OS 4.39 (or later) or an Iyonix with a DVD ROM drive. All the articles can also be read on any computer with a web browser and a DVD drive, this includes PCs and Macs. As almost all the software is in ZIP files these files can be copied onto other media from a PC or Mac and transferred to a RISC OS computer. What's coming in Volume 9?It's actually a very good question, what is coming in RISCWorld volume 9? Well, the magazine will be undergoing an overhaul, so we can keep all our regular columns and add even more to each issue. We are hoping to include more real world tutorials (such as the Backup article in this issue) and we will also be chasing up more abandoned commercial applications and games for our readers. We will continue with our regular columns about the Iyonix and VirtualAcorn. We would also like to add a column dedicated to the A9, but we need someone to write it, are you interested? Our other regular columns will continue and we will carry on with our policy of providing new and interesting software with every issue. We will also be taking a look back in time to see what has happening in the RISC OS world years ago. There is also going be some exciting news about RISCWorld before the next issue (Volume 9 Issue 1) lands on your doormat. We can't say what at the moment, but keep your eyes and ears peeled. Special Subscriber offersFree copy of the Graphics on the Arm Book - worth £9.90 We have serialised Graphics on the Arm, by Roger Amos over the last 6 issues, but suppose you would like a proper printed version? Well, anyone who renews their RISCWorld subscription at the Wakefield 2008 show will receive a free copy of the Graphics on the Arm book to take away. All you have to do is ask. This offer applies to existing subscribers only and is only available while stocks last, so if you turn up at 4:00pm don't expect to get a copy as we only have a limited number.
