Wakefield 2009

Previewing the biggest show of the year...

The Wakefield 2009 Show, taking place on the 25th April, is now almost fully booked. There are just a couple of stands left to be filled. So if you are considering exhibiting at the show you need to get in contact with the show organisers at once, or it might be too late.

As a special bonus the Centre for Computing History will be attending the show this year. They have a very interesting display planned, but we don't want to tell you what it is in case it ruins the surprise. In addition Joel Rowbottom will have a range of 8 bit computers, hopefully networked, with a variety of other interesting Acorn related things for visitors to see.

Once again there is a small developers area, sponsored by both Advantage 6 and WROCC, with exhibitors such as The RISC OS Packaging project, to name but one.

The popular show theatre will once again be in the room downstairs from the main show. The fully booked program of talks looks like this:

As usual the clubs traditional Charity stall will be present raising money for the Wakefield Hospice. The charity stand will also be accepting used inkjet cartridges for recycling. Money from these will also be donated to the Wakefield Hospice, who will receive cash for each cartridge that gets recycled. In addition the club will also be collecting any unwanted mobile phones for recycling for the Hospice. Although do remember to remove your SIMM card first.

There will be a Mini-Bus operating between Wakefield Westgate Station and the show venue, the Cedar Court Hotel just off junction 39 of the M1, throughout the day. The first bus will leave the station at around 9:30. Trips will continue until about 5 pm. Please note there will only be one mini-bus this year and not two in the morning as per last year. This is to reduce costs.

This year the show is supported and sponsored by Advantage 6 and M W Software. In addition all the RISC OS magazine are running features about the show during the build up.

Public opening times for the show are 10 am to 5 pm. Entrance costs £5, tickets are only available on the door and cannot be pre-booked.
